Poor Jackson!

Poor Jackson is a bit in the wars at the moment. On Wednesday he had an accident on his skateboard and badly damaged his fingernail so yesterday he was scheduled for surgery to fix it. Luckily it has already started to heal so he was feeling ok to come to school today to show us all. There is even an arrow on his hand so the surgeons know which finger to fix! We think you are VERY brave Jackson!!

Wacky wild day!

Today was wild and wacky mufti day and look how crazy we all are! It was a great day with hot chips and ice cream available to order as well as funtime lunchtime in the hall. To top it off tonight is the disco...what a wild day!

MOTAT!!

We had the best day at MOTAT (Museum of transport and technology) and saw lots of cool things including heaps of simple machines! Check out our scrapbook story of our trip!

Jump Jam!

We love doing Jump Jam on Monday and Wednesday mornings. All the JLC goes into the hall and bogeys to the DVDs, even the teachers! Some of us go up on stage and be leaders for the other children to watch and follow. Best of all it helps keep us fit and healthy!

Happy birthday Dylan!

It was Dylan's birthday on Friday and lucky LZ6 got to share a delicious cake with him! The cake was covered in snake and jetplane lollies and was baked by his nana. Thanks to Dylan's mum for bringing it in and letting us celebrate Dylan's birthday!

Lever experiment!

Seeing as we are learning about simple machines we decided to make a lever catapult! We had to try with different materials and moving the fulcrum to see if we could get our ping pong ball into the cup...or touch the ceiling! There were balls flying everywhere in the classroom!!! We had SO much fun learning!!!

We are very proud of our amazing Eric Carle art! We spent days making it - first we had to make painted paper using sponges and scrapers and bubble wrap, then once it was dry we had to cut it to make our collage pictures of our favourite insect. Come and see them hanging up in LZ6!

We love music!

Music with Mrs Boggs is one of our highlights of each week! Every Friday we go to the music room with LZ5 and get to sing songs, play musical instuments and have fun learning about the elements of music. These photos were taken at a few different sessions throughout last term.

Yay for you Nikail! Nikail received his excellence award a few weeks ago at assembly but silly Miss Baker forgot her camera that day and did not get a photo...Thankfully when Nikail took the camera home for news Dad was clever and got a photo so we could put it on the blog and celebrate his achievement! Dylan was away on Friday and unfortunately missed out on receiving his excellence award at our school assembly but has got it now to take home and share with his family. Also look at all our latest 25+ readers! No wonder we are all such good readers in LZ6! Well done to you all!

Our race into reading challenge!

We love reading books! These photos are taken in our amazing library that we go and visit each week as a class. To help us get even BETTER at reading we started a 'race into reading' competition today. We have to take home a different library book each night and read it together with our parents. Each book we read gets a sticker on our racing track and the first 5 to the finish line get a surprise! We are all really excited about reading lots and sharing our stories with others. It will take a long time because we have to read over 70 books to get to the finish!!

Our names in sign language!

Last week was New Zealand Sign Language week and we had some lessons in how to say basic phrases and spell out the letters of the alphabet. It was quite hard and we had to practise with our buddy class LZ9. It was fun and we want to keep learning!

Jenna's news about the tornado!

A few days ago there was a tornado in Auckland. It hit the North Shore and caused a lot of damage and one man died. We all saw it on the news and Jenna wrote down some information to share with the class.

Our holiday wordle!

Today we wrote poems about our holidays and decided to share them together as a wordle. That is a website that makes your words into a 'word cloud' picture. We had to think of all the things we had done in the holidays with our families and friends. Click on the image to make it bigger!
