Fancy Feet!
Last week it was Travelwise week at Mission Heights and we got cool prizes for walking and riding to school instead of coming in the car. On Friday we had a mufti day with the theme of "Fancy Feet" and we had to dress our feet up in crazy ways. These are some of the fanciest feet in LZ6! Max the pukeko came to assembly and gave out prizes as well!

Introducing Rocky - our visitor from the South Island!
Meet Rocky (who Marli is firm friends with already!) who arrived from the South Island last week. He is originally from Dunedin and one of our linked blogs www.super7scoopers.edublogs.org and he has been visiting another of our linked blogs in Invercargill www.leakeysblog.edublogs.org Now he is visiting us and he has a task for while he is visiting us up in Auckland. Grandparents Day!
Today it was Grandparents Day at Mission Heights. We had a special assembly with dancing and music and stories and poems. Lots of our families came to watch and visit us in the classroom. We showed them the blog and our books and stuff on the computer. Then it was time for a picnic lunch. I like Grandparents day!

Look at what we made today!
Today we worked with Mrs Hishey in LZ26. She taught us how to do French knitting and we each made our own bracelet. We are very proud of how fast we could learn a new skill. Miss Baker said she did not know how to make one so we will have to teach her!

Our quadblog begins...
This week our very first quadblogging group begins. There is some information about it on the right side panel. There are 4 schools in our quadblog and this week the focus school is Longshaw Infant School in the United Kingdom. We are trying to visit them every day and see what they are up to and write a comment. We can do this at home as well if we want to. Next week the focus will be on our blog and people will visit and leave comments for us. It is very exciting to make all these connections with other classes all over the world!

Happy birthday Harry!
Today Harry's mum brought in a birthday cake for us to share with Harry. It was super yummy and had a big candle on top. Thank you for letting us celebrate your birthday with you Harry - we hope you have a fantastic day on Saturday - you get to share it with Guy Fawkes day!
Money master!
We have been practising our money counting skills this week in preparation for our upcoming market day. Ms Bower found this great game online to help us. You can play in lots of different currencies if you want to. Give it a try by clicking on the picture link.

Coming soon...our claymation movies!
As you can see we have been busy this week making claymation movies. We had to make backgrounds as well as characters for a well known story or rhyme. We worked in small groups and all had jobs to do. Today we finished taking all the photos, downloading them and recording our voices with the easispeak microphone. Ms Bower and Miss Baker will finish them off so they will be up on the blog next week! We really liked making them.
Athletics day!
We had a fantastic athletics day at school today! The Junior Learning Community had all sorts of fun activities like sack races, moonhoppers, javelin, skipping, parachute games, egg and spoon race, hula hoops, duck duck goose and more! Then in the afternoon we had our sprint race heats and finals. It was very exciting and fast. The great news is that Dylan came third in the year 2 boys final and Tiffinni came first in the year 2 girls final! Bravo you two and everyone else for trying their best and having a great time!

Well done to Tiffinni for being awarded the Excellence award for LZ6 at last weeks assembly. She got it for her fantastic effort in reading - pushing her words together to make them smooth and reading with expression. Great job Tiffinni!

Hi guys! Here is another great game that you can play during the holidays (or during term!) - you squash the fruit with the number that matches the equation...the faster you go, the more points you get. It makes a great splat sound as well!! Give it a try by clicking on the image above.

Board game day!
We have been learning about toys and games - both old and new - and on the last week of term we could bring our favourite board games to school to share with our class and LZ5! It was lots of fun learning because we had to talk about and demonstrate how to play our game and then we all took turns playing all the different games in both classes!
