Cross country photos!

A couple of weeks ago it was cross country at MHP and even though it started raining we stuck with it and completed our run! Congratulations to Vivian for coming second place in the year 2 girls and Logan for coming third place in the year 2 boys - and well done to EVERYONE for giving it your best and completing the course!

Well done to Natalee for winning our excellence award for concientious effort; Vivian for coming second in cross country; and Harry, Jed, Matthew, Ricky, Ryan and Logan (absent) for getting 100% correct in the spell-a-thon test! Wow LZ6 - what a clever class we have!!

What a fantastic diary entry winner this week! Jenna you have done a great job working on your diary, I loved the way you have added lots of detail as well as decorating the pages with pictures and highlighting your words! What a great effort - well done!

Happy birthday Faatimah!

Faatimah celebrated her birthday this week and brought a container of yummy Ferrero Rocher to share with the class! What a special treat for us all! Thank you Faatimah, we hope you enjoyed your special day!

Eels!!

Today we saw eels in the library. The children from the Junior College showed us a video and read a story about why we need to look after eels. There were real eels in a tank and some were big and some were really tiny. A man called Paul was the fish man and he was the expert. He even had fish shoes!

3 Little Billy Goats (a puppet play!)

This week the 'Super Snakes' reading group were working on a play called "The 3 little billy goats" - a sing song rhyming tale based on the original story. They decided to make puppets for the characters (which they projected and traced off the whiteboard) and then had the choice of being the reader for the character or the puppet for it instead. We had lots of fun making it! Well done for fantastic expressive reading to Logan, Hannah G, Kashvi and Faatimah!

Spelling bee challenge!

We want our school to get smarter at spelling so we thought this was a good game to play at home and practise our skills. Give it a try because it is wicked and awesome (said Jackson!).

Eid celebrations at Faatimah's house

A couple of weeks ago it was Eid and some of our families in LZ6 had big celebrations with their families and friends. I was lucky enough to get invited to Faatimah's house for a special lunch along with Mrs Lal and Miss Lee. This photo was taken as we were leaving to come back to school. Faatimah and her family looked beautiful in their special outfits. Thank you so much for sharing this with us Faatimah!

Diary entries this week...

This week I couldn't decide on a single diary entry winner so have put up 2 to share - one by Faatimah (left) and one by Matthew (right). They are both great as I can really sense their personal voice in the writing - well done you two!!

Happy (belated) birthday Max!

It was Max's birthday last week (sorry it took so long to put up the photos Max!) and he shared his special day with LZ6! His mum made delicious cupcakes and there were also goodie bags for everyone to take home. Thanks Max, we felt privilaged to be a part of your day!

MHP goes all out for the RWC!!

We had a very exciting and very busy Friday at school to celebrate the opening of the Rugby World Cup with a country parade, rugby skills competition (complete with our own replica world cup) and a country celebration assembly! This video was put together by LZ4's Miss Koltonowska - thank you for sharing!

Spelling word builder game

We found this activity on a blog that is linked to ours (Thanks room 2 at Burnham School!) and thought it would be good practise for our spell-a-thon!! Hopefully you are all learning your words at home and collecting lots of sponsors - LZ6 is really keen to win the class prize for getting the most sponsorship!! Just click on the image to give this a try...

Oh No!

This video is from the ACE reading group 'Bookworms' and is a short puppet show retelling the book "Oh No!" The kids loved making it! We think it is pretty good too!

More Kings and Queens in LZ6!

Wow, look at all the Kings and Queens that have been helping out in LZ6 lately! You are all doing a great job and I know how much you love sitting on the throne...nearly everyone has had a turn so we will have to start drawing out names from the start again!

Well done Hannah!

Yay for you Hannah! You were awarded our school excellence certificate because of your fantastic improvement in your presentation and the wonderful way that you are always ready to help others - both are great achievements and I am really proud of you!
