Well done to Kevin and Kereama!

Congratulations to Kevin and Kereama for both receiving certificates at assembly on Friday! Kevin won the junior division of the gaming competition last week in the library with the most points on bad ice cream, and Kereama won the LZ7 excellence award for his fantastic written language! Well done you two - keep up the amazing effort!

Ultimate mufti day and lunch!

Friday was the ultimate fun day at school because we had the 'ultimate' mufti day where you could come dressed as anything or anyone you wanted! Mrs Gage dressed up in a giant cow suit and was very funny!! We also could order lunch combos of either sausages or samosas and cookies. Yum!

Seeds growing time lapse video!

We watched this video today in class as part of our learning about how plants grow. We think it is pretty cool...and some of us thought "wow those plants are growing so fast!" Miss Baker explained that it was shot with lots of photos over lots of time all joined together to make it look really fast.

Miss Baker got a certificate!

Look what I received at JLC assembly last week! LZ14 were hosting the assembly and instead of giving out certificates for students, decided that the teachers deserved some instead! Thanks LZ14, it was pretty cool to go up on stage to get this!

Travelwise winner AJ!

Congratulations to AJ for being one of the Travelwise week winners! He was randomly picked from all the kids who walked to school and got a cool prize pack! Keep up the great walking AJ!

Seeds, seeds, seeds!

We have been planting lots of seeds over the past week for our integrated studies learning 'From Field to Table'. We have all planted individual bean seeds in peat pots and then in groups we have planted carrot, parsnip and broccoli seeds. They will take quite a long time to grow so we will need to look after them well!

Farm day!

On Sunday afternoon it was the Federated Farmers open day and six farms across New Zealand were open to the public to visit and see what happens there. LZ7 was invited to join in and several families went along to look and learn a bit about dairy farming in Karaka. We had a great time visiting different animals, watching a sheep shearing demonstration and learning about the process of milking cows in the rotary cow shed. This gave us a taster of some of what we might be learning about in term 2 and we loved it!

No more cast for Tanya!

After breaking her arm on the very first week of school, Tanya was finally able to get her cast off this week! She took Elmo with her to keep her company as the fibreglass cast (with all of LZ7's signatures) was sawn off! Tanya, you have been so brave throughout all of this - well done!

Photo news from Frances...

Frances was the first person in LZ7 to take the camera home for news this year! As you can see, her and Elmo had a great time together! Thanks for sharing Frances!

Grumpy Bear play!

We have been reading our big book 'Grumpy Bear' and decided it would be good to make it into a play! We made character masks and practised reading with expression and using actions to make it interesting to watch. After we videoed it we shared it with the senior classes in the studio! We are all budding actors in LZ7!!

Maths Fun!

We love doing maths in LZ7 and wanted to share a fabulous game that Mrs Browne taught us. It is called "Shake and add it up" and you have to add dice and get four in a row to be the winner. Here are some photos of us learning how to play and giving it a try in buddies. Click on the comic to make it bigger!

The vegetable song!

I found this funny video yesterday and thought LZ7 would like it! Especially because we are busy learning about food - including vegetables!!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Melinda and Denzael - for coming 1st and 3rd in the Dr Seuss drawing competition - and to Frances for getting this weeks excellence award at school assembly! All three of you deserve a huge round of applause!

Dr Seuss and book week assembly!

Wow, what a busy book week we had! To finish it off - Friday was book character mufti day and we had a special assembly to celebrate all the winners of the book week competitions. Mrs Vohra even read us "Green eggs and ham". 2 LZ7 superstars were MCs for the assembly - well done to Risha and Jessica K! You both did a wonderful job!
