Another snail video!

Miss Williams and her class found this funny video and thought we might like to put it on our blog. It is about a snail that wishes and dreams it could go fast. In the end he works out a way that he can! Thanks for sharing LZ18!

Making bird houses!

The last 2 days we have been working with Mrs Pieterse in LZ13 while Miss Baker is on CRT. We made bird houses. They were really hard to make because there was lots of cutting, folding and gluing. We are proud of what we made and can't wait to take them home!

Nikita and Harry's news

We are getting some fantastic images from everyone as they take the camera home to collect 'news'. Today it was Nikita and on Wednesday it was Harry's turn. Ellie has had some adventures at their houses too.

Smartie challenge!

We have been learning to sort and graph information as part of our maths this term. We had a 'smartie challenge' to complete our work. We each got a box of smartie lollies and had to sort them into colours. We made a tally chart and used the information to create a bar graph. The best part was EATING the smarties when we were finished!!

News by Ricky

Ricky did his news after taking home the camera on Wednesday. He took photos at baseball practice which was cool because we had never seen that before. Ellie the elephant had a good time too...we are thinking of starting up a new blog just for her adventures!

Grumpy Bear!

Today we made a video of our big book "Grumpy Bear". We each had to be a character out of the book and we had head bands to wear. Nikail was Grumpy Bear and he was really good at it. It was hard to stay quiet during filming but we did it! It was lots of fun to retell our story this way.

News by Paige

Paige was the lucky first person to take home the LZ6 camera to record her news. Twice a week the camera goes home with someone and they have 2 days to take photos and videos to share with the class. Paige took photos of her new house and her pets! Here she is sharing them on the whiteboard with everyone and answering questions. Great job!

Our latest Kings!

We have had some trouble loading photos recently so it has taken a few weeks to get our latest Kings up here! Matthew, Augustino, Alvin and Dylan all did a great job being King...who will it be next week?

Our snail dance claymation!

After seeing the slug dance video earlier in the week we decided to make our own snail dance video using modelling clay and taking lots of photos. We worked in groups of 3 and had to take a series of photos each (trying not to move the camera or the background container!) and then Miss Baker put them together with music. This is the first time we have done this and it was quite hard. We will keep practising this skill over the year so look out Hollywood!

Spider research!

We are practising our research skills online using key word searches and finding new or extending information. We listed all the facts we knew about spiders before we started and then had to go and find more information in buddies. The hard part is remembering what we see and read so that we can report back to the class because we don't just want to copy! We are getting better and better at this skill.

Tally marks!

Today in maths we were working on tally marks. We found a great interactive activity and had turns working on the e-beam with it. Then we went outside to practise using our tally mark skills to count the different coloured cars that drove past. Silver was the most popular, followed by white and black! It was lots of fun and even Mr Flanagan came past to check out what we were up to!
The online activity is posted below.

Great maths game for sorting and graphing!

We found this activity today through the BBC website and really enjoyed doing it. The great thing is now you can do it at home as well!
